Chances are you’ve seen news coverage of chromium-6, especially in the wake of a report from the Environmental Working Group (EWG). EWG released a new interactive map showing the so-called “Erin Brockovich” chemical at unsafe levels in the tap water of an estimated 218 million Americans.
The technical name is hexavalent chromium
The good news is that chromium-6 can be removed from your tap water through the use of a certified water filter or water treatment device. However, when searching for the right filter for your home, you may not always find certified products under the term “chromium-6.”
